With OC Youth leaders we are playing against a team that has become an integral part of our lives. They are the coach, the commisioner and ultimately, the opponent. You probably know their players quite well. Their objective is to take your hard-earned runs away from you, even though their team didn't earn them. Remember, they control the umpires too. They try to make you feel bad for knocking one out of the park with a new business, or stealing home with a new home or just hitting a single for all your hard work. They masquerade by saying that they are for "sustainability" or by saying that the world may end if you don't stop caring so much about playing the game we play everyday in life. They say that you will be disquaified soon because of your "carelessness." And they are your coach too, so they get into your head and tell you that to expect to pitch a complete game throughout your life is sheerly impossible and that you need to let government be your reliever and give up a ton of runs. Sounds horrible, huh? Well, it is happening every day, behind your back, and people you know and love are bound to lose their games too. Winning by hard work and merit is not even in their vocabulary. They just want to cheat. They shall remain nameless for now, but as you play you will learn their many names. But, if you can play fairly, hone your skills, follow a good game plan based upon principles and values, do the little things right in your own community, and help to give a boost to those of your teammates that are in need and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country, we can keep a strong, healthy team on the field, ready to play and ready to WIN!
